National Father’s Day Council
For more than a decade the Father’s Day Council has teamed up with the American Diabetes Association to honor fatherhood and support diabetes research. The Father’s Day Council is a group of volunteers who annually select and honor men for their service to the community and, most importantly, their role as dads.
All Media Design Group’s own, Dan Traci, accepted the Father’s Day Council of Northeastern Ohio’s designation as a 2014 Father of the Year! A dinner was held in his honor at the Ritz Carlton downtown. The proceeds from the dinner benefited the American Diabetes Association and its mission to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes with his campaign raising over $75,000.
For Dan, being a dad is a great joy and a top priority. Happy to be part of an event that both celebrates fatherhood and supports the fight against diabetes, Dan felt immensely honored and humbled for this recognition.
Many of Dan’s peers serving on the board recognize that it is because of Dan’s accomplishments with the American Diabetes Association they became a stronger organization due to his significant participation. Initially involved with the Association’s local Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® marketing efforts, Dan’s role quickly escalated to Executive Committee member.
Dan served as Chair of the Association’s Cleveland Community Leadership Board from 2010 – 2011. During this time, the Board grew in size, influence and diversity, which directly impacted the overall performance of the chapter. He led by example – identifying and securing Father of the Year honorees, becoming a top fundraiser for Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, and recruiting companies to become involved with the Association’s work.
In 2013, Dan received the Association’s Mid-Markets East SHARE Marketing Communications Award for spearheading the committee’s activities. Under Dan’s leadership, most programs and special events in the market – including Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, Tour de Cure, American Diabetes ALERT!, Father of the Year, Project POWER and American Diabetes Month — receive frequent and ongoing publicity in local radio, TV, outdoor and electronic outlets. Dan personally created local TV and radio spots, and utilized his extensive contacts to ensure these spots receive significant airing over an extended time period at no cost to the Association. He has secured numerous interviews and featured segments for various programs, which spread the word on the Association’s activities. Dan is a star volunteer – passionate, dedicated, driven, willing to engage his contacts in the Association’s work, and a sense of humor and humility. He was an asset to their mission to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
